Addiction prevention

The TU Berlin would like to support employees with alcohol and other addictions.

Social Counseling discusses forms of assistance and supports you in starting therapeutic measures. In addition, the University Physician Service is available for advice.
Employees who are indirectly affected can also take advantage of this assistance.
Supervisors have a special role model function when it comes to dealing with alcohol and other addictive substances. With their attitudes and behavior, they strongly influence the culture around addictive substances at the workplace.

The Guidelines for Supervisors includes information about addictions, the effects of addictions on employees’ behavior at the workplace, and what actions a supervisor needs to take.

In the brochure Substance-Related Disturbances at the Workplace - A Practical Guide for Supervisors from the German Center for Addiction Issues, you can find additional recommendations for action and basic information on dealing with employees under the influence of alcohol.
